producing a musical recording

09:09:11 band 1 by texasBteclevel2

Today we did our first recording as a group. We learn't about how to set up for a stereo recording and how to set up the recording equipment properly. The mic stand must be loosened before its put into the position you want it in. we also learn't where the microphones should be placed in the room and how to set up the gain levels correctly.

Computers

 Imac

This is an i mac they are a very good choice of computer for music becuse. the use a 3.4Ghz intel i7 processor and 16Gb of RAM this an ideal amount of power in a computer fo any musician that uses computers for studio recording and musioc production aswell as that it has a 2 Tb hard drive and 2Gb of AMD radeon HD 6970M GDDR5 graphics card this is also helpful in preformance and visuals as alot of professional studio recording programs need a good graphics card to run well. The mac's also have usb and firewire ports this are vital in music computers as almoast evry kind of interface will either need to use usb or firewire.

 vortex Classic I3 Music PC

Vortex Class i3 music pc The mainboard also harnesses the built in Intel Graphics of the 2nd Gen Cpu's and so the need for separate graphics adaptor is removed so as to help reduce costs without compromising reliability. We have provided a wide range of upgrade options so this system can cater for all levels of users. If you upgrade the Cpu to a quad core we recommend choosing the Corsair A70 cpu cooler to help keep the system cool and maintain the low acoustics.

Microphones

Sm 58
This is the sure sm 58 it's a dynamic microphone it's hz range is 50-15.000 this means it has a very diverse frequency range this also means it can be used not only for vocals but for various other things such as guitar/bass amps, drums but its main and moast common use is for vocals . because how diverse the mic is it has become a very popular and is used by many artists, dj's, radio stations etc. also the microphone has been designed very well and is rumored to be the worlds strongest microphone as demonstrated in this clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33QPLbQi9FI&feature=player_embedded).

Sm 57

The  Sm 57 is very much alike the 58 besides some small differences. As well as being designed for instrument use prefrebly drums, amps and accoustic instruments. it has a frequency range of 40-15,000 hz wich os one of its similarities to the 58. it also uses a Uniform cardioid pickup pattern that isolates the main sound source and also helps reducing background noise.
